Features, Working Principle and Specifications

Features of the equipment

The Aethalometer collects and analyzes aerosol particles continuously.

Two sample spots are collected from the same input airstream with different accumulation rates and analyzed simultaneously.

The analysis is made at 7 optical wavelengths spanning the spectrum from 370 nm to 950 nm.

Unique features/Measurement capabilities,

Type of Sample Required for Analysis / Testing (Quantity, Pre-Preparation, State etc.) Guidelines for Sample Submission – User Instructions

Quantity: Aerosol Sample with maximum 5 lpm air flow

Sample Type: The aerosol-laden air stream is drawn through a spot on a filter tape at a measured flow rate

     Pre-preparation: Nil

Indoor or sheltered use only: the AE33 is not weatherproof.

Altitude: up to 3000 m with an internal pump. Increased flow at very high altitudes possible with the external pump on request.

Temperature range: 10 – 40 degrees Celsius (instrument)

Relative humidity range: non-condensing. Note that it is essential to prevent condensation of humid outdoor sample air if the instrument is located in a chilled (air-conditioned) environment.

Type of Samples to be Analysed -  The aerosol-laden air stream

Maximum No. of Samples Accepted at a Time: Aerosol Sample with maximum 5 lpm air flow, minimum integration time 1 second.

Minimum No of Days Required for result: Real time.

Maximum time per day: Continuous Monitoring throughout the day is possible
